immersive, In-Person Workshops for Elopement Photographers Ready to Go Further
Expeditions are my signature in-person workshops. Designed exclusively for elopement photographers who crave real adventure, hands-on learning, and transformative growth.
With years of experience photographing intimate celebrations in some of the world’s most breathtaking places, I created Expeditions to give fellow photographers the opportunity to push boundaries, refine their craft, and connect with a community of like-minded creatives. I’m here to share what’s worked, and what hasn’t, so you can take action with purpose and momentum
Breathtaking Destinations, Elevated Experience
These aren’t just portfolio builders. They’re immersive experiences meant to challenge, inspire, and elevate every part of your creative process.
The shoots will not be "styled" shoots with table decor and the works. My Expeditions are about working with couples in amazing landscapes and not decor. Which means we will do our best to capture that during our shoots. Photographers will learn to bring couples into a landscape and create stunning imagery with limited resources.
THE SHOOTS
My Expeditions are adventure Elopement workshops. The goal at each Expedition is to teach photographers how I work with couples and capture timeless images in amazing places. These locations are usually off the grid and not easy to get to. Some reached by helicopter, 4x4 vehicles or a good hike. Regardless of how we get there, I will teach you how to use landscapes to the fullest to create stunning art. I will also teach the in's and outs of being a successful Elopement Photographer.
THE EXPERIENCE
What is an expedition
My Expeditions are geared towards photographers looking for outdoor immersive learning experience. Something more than the typical workshops offered in the industry.
What To Expect
Yes! Upon request I can create a custom Payment plan to fit any budget. I know this is a big investment and want to make the Expedition available to people of all budgets.
Q. Is there a payment option?
All the rooms at Vik Apartments are shared rooms. The rooms are set up to accommodate 4 people in each Apartment. Please contact me directly with further questions.
Q. Are the rooms Private or Shared?
Typically I only have one set of models per Expedition. This makes planning much easier on my end. Also my Expeditions are designed to be a "learning" experience not a "portfolio" building Investment. Attendees should come with the mindset of Learning, not just to get pictures. You will of course get amazing pictures for your portfolio but this shouldn't be your main reason for attending.
Q. Will there be more than one set of models?
The Iceland Expedition is limited to 10 spots. This allows for a more intimate experience and we will really get to know each other! Not to mention have stress free shoots!
Q. How many attendees can sign up for this Expedition?
Frequently asked questions
Yes and No! Some locations will require a short walk but not much of a hike. I wouldn't classify any of the hikes as difficult. The average person shouldn't have any issues!
Q. Will we be hiking?
Q. What about bad weather?
It's true Iceland is known for moody weather. This won't stop us from shooting so bring some waterproof jackets and protective gear for your camera! Some of my favorite pictures I have ever taken were taken in bad weather! I treat Expeditions like I would treat any other booked shoot I have, we shoot in the weather we get! So we plan for the worst and hope for the best! That sad we also have to keep in mind the safety of our models. So breaks between shooting might happen if the weather is to cold.

My experience attending Tyler Rye's Dolomites photography workshop in Italy was nothing short of EPIC! Even before arriving, the online workshop covers so much to prepare you before you even start shooting. Location scouting, gear, editing, social media, helpful apps, and real life elopements are just some of the many topics covered. I loved being able to dive into the educational side of things prior to the trip through his online elopement workshop and the workshop pdf to get the majority of my questions answered and loved how transparent everything was.

I have been following Tyler’s personal work since 2023 and he quickly became one of my favorite photographers. When I learned about his expedition workshops I was thrilled to see a bucket list location (Iceland) was happening this year. As someone who truly loves unique adventure opportunities/ locations this workshop did not disappoint. Tyler himself is incredibly warm, welcoming, and humble. The models, outfits, and locations were top tier. The conversations and bonding amongst the attendees were beyond encouraging, and we all left with new friends! 10/10 would recommend investing in yourself and your business by attending an Expedition! Can’t wait for the next one!

I attended Tyler's expedition in Iceland and it was a great experience! I had no prior knowledge of Iceland so I used this expedition as a way to scout the area out and become familiar with Iceland. Tyler found some incredible spots for us to stay at and to photograph at! He taught us how to be intentional and pose in unique ways. I learned a lot and was grateful he was there to show us around!
Highly recommend doing a workshop or expedition with Tyler if you're a photographer wanting to break into the fine art wedding or elopement market!

During the entire workshop, I felt like I was given so much to work with and had every opportunity to learn and grow and trust me, I took FULL advantage. From planning to executing, Tyler went above and beyond for us and I can’t thank him enough. This trip was everything and more and I am in awe of his talent and ability to create masterpieces in 96km wind. LOL I truly had THE BEST time and by the end of the workshop, I felt truly connected to everyone who attended and I loved the editing game we did the final night.

This was my first time attending any type of photography workshop and my expectations were blown away! Everything was perfectly planned out. He took us to breathtaking locations for our sessions, booked the perfect accommodation for us to stay in, hired great profesional models and a super helpful assistant (shoutout to Joel) and not a single day lacked adventure. They’re not called expeditions for no reason! My expeditions included early morning hikes to catch the most perfect sunrise, hiking a glacier with crampons, shooting in the rain and cold weather, off-roading on the defenders, a speed boat excursion to one of the locations, a session with horses near the beach and more! Hard for me to choose a favorite because I loved every moment.
