2018 Zion National Park Elopement Photography Workshop

For this year’s Tyler Rye Workshop in Zion National Park, we returned to the amazing Under Canvas Zion! It has quickly become one of my favorite places to host a workshop! You just can't beat the views and the sweet safari tents! We had an amazing time and I'm excited to start sharing the images! This year I planned all the shoots to tell one continuous story of a bride and groom escaping to Zion to elope. We follow them along a series of four shoots! This is shoot number one, "The Arrival," in their story and it shows them arriving at Under Canvas for their weekend getaway! The shoot features a really cool 1950's Chevy pickup, some sweet backdrops and of course a gorgeous couple! I'll be sharing shoot number two, "The Hike," tomorrow! So make sure and come back to see images of their exploration hike into the Zion desert!

One of the highlights of the 2018 Zion Workshop was the styled elopement shoots. These carefully planned sessions allowed attendees to practice working with couples in realistic scenarios. Professional models wore thoughtfully chosen outfits that matched the vibrant surroundings of Zion, giving photographers the chance to practice posing techniques and capturing authentic interactions. These sessions provided practical experience and confidence in documenting real elopements.

Hosting our workshop directly in Zion National Park provided valuable hands-on experience with important logistics, like securing permits, managing timelines, and handling unpredictable weather. Attendees learned firsthand how to smoothly navigate these challenges, ensuring they could confidently manage future elopements in the park.
